Role: Senior UX Designer / Information Architect
The revival of the employee magazine, which has been out of circulation for 2 years, was to be launched in a digital channel. A shift from internal communications to external communications. A magazine accessible to employees and a wide audience.
The user experience strategy and information architecture was developed parallel to a content strategy. A persona development available accelerated my research and understanding of the project.
I opted to begin with a user journey to understand the touchpoints and behaviour of the employees. In the journey I discovered that private media will play an important role for both user and stakeholder. While analysing the content, I spotted two different user behaviours for reading the magazine.
The outcome of my understanding and approach was reflected on the design of a homepage, landing and article page.
The purpose of the user journey, was to understand how the magazine becomes relevant in the users ecosystem. The journey pointed out reading behaviours in the user experience. Much of the users commute more than an hour to work, it was clear that the private and social media channels would play an important role.
The final outcome was a design and prototype of a home, landing and article page. A navigation model based on tags was supported by a sitemap.
